The Boys are Back in Town

The First XI return to BUCS Premier North action, for the first time in 2023, on Wednesday as they welcome the league leaders. It's set to be a hotly contested game with a fiercely determined Durham side, with all to play for, facing a Stirling team that heads to Dundee United at the weekend to play in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup.

We talked to first team captain, Jack Gibbons, and recently returned, Leeds United Academy graduate and DUAFC veteran, Matt Keogh, to get their thoughts ahead of the game and the term ahead. Here's what they had to say...

Jack Gibbons:

"As we move into second term, I’m excited for the games ahead. We have 3 cup finals and all the lads are ready to put right the disappointments of first term. With a bigger squad than we’ve ever had and key players returning from injury, we are looking stronger than ever. The end of season run-in begins with Wednesday where we play Stirling University, last years champions who are on the verge of another title. Stirling need a point for the title and we are searching for a vital 3 points that could kickstart the second part of our season. The boys are ready and we will give our all to get the win!"

Matt Keogh:

"After a long 16 months out with an ACL, I am really excited to be back in the mix for our last few games of the season. It has been a tough period for me but it is a great feeling to be back and I feel in a good place to make an impact over the next few weeks. The boys have come back from the Christmas break in really good condition and are raring to go in what are essentially three cup finals to keep us in the league. There is a strong belief that we can stay up and, starting tomorrow afternoon, we will go out and do everything we can to make it happen."

The boys are raring to go and full of ambition, and would warmly welcome your support on Track Pitch, Maiden Castle at 1pm tomorrow!

Come on DUAFC!
